1. ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS

Welcome to Lansing Promise. These Terms of Use and Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lansing Promise website, located at LansingPromise.org, and any related webpages, online forms, digital services, communications, and other services that link to or reference these Terms (collectively, the "Services").

Lansing Promise ("Lansing Promise," "we," "us," or "our") is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships and support for Lansing students' journeys to postsecondary completion.

By accessing or using our Services, submitting information through our website, registering for a Lansing Promise program or event, or otherwise interacting with Services governed by these Terms, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the applicable Services.

These Terms do not replace or supersede any separate agreement, scholarship agreement, participation agreement, school agreement, consent form, or other written terms that may apply to a particular Lansing Promise program or service. If a specific program has separate terms, those terms will govern to the extent of any conflict.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND PROGRAM PARTICIPATION

Lansing Promise programs and scholarships are subject to eligibility requirements, application requirements, deadlines, documentation requirements, and other conditions established by Lansing Promise and, where applicable, its educational partners and funding sources.

Participation in Lansing Promise programs does not guarantee admission to any college, university, career-training program, or other educational institution, nor does it guarantee a particular scholarship amount, reimbursement, benefit, or educational outcome.

Scholarship eligibility and benefits may be subject to continued compliance with applicable program requirements. Lansing Promise reserves the right to verify information provided by applicants and scholars and to determine eligibility in accordance with applicable program requirements.

Where required by law or applicable program rules, Lansing Promise may request additional documentation or authorization before providing services or accessing or sharing student information.

3. WEBSITE AND CONTENT

The Lansing Promise website is provided to provide information about Lansing Promise, its programs, scholarships, services, events, resources, and opportunities to engage with the organization.

We make reasonable efforts to keep website information accurate and current. However, information may change without notice, and Lansing Promise does not warrant that all website content is complete, current, or error-free.

Information on the website is provided for general informational purposes and does not constitute legal, financial, tax, academic, admissions, or professional advice.

Program requirements, deadlines, scholarship eligibility, reimbursement policies, and other requirements may change. Users should consult Lansing Promise directly when they need confirmation of current requirements.

4. ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms.

You may not:

  • Use the Services for fraudulent, unlawful, abusive, threatening, or harmful purposes;

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information;

  • Use the Services in a manner that violates applicable law or the rights of Lansing Promise or another person.

Lansing Promise reserves the right to restrict or terminate access to the Services when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or when necessary to protect the organization, its users, its systems, or other individuals.

5. USER-SUBMITTED INFORMATION

You may have opportunities to submit information to Lansing Promise through online forms, applications, surveys, registrations, emails, scholarship processes, event registrations, or other Services.

You agree that information you provide will be accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.

You are responsible for providing accurate contact information and promptly notifying Lansing Promise when information relevant to your participation changes.

Information submitted to Lansing Promise is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. STUDENT AND EDUCATION RECORD INFORMATION

Lansing Promise may receive or maintain information relating to students and scholars as part of providing scholarships, advising, support, outreach, program administration, reporting, and other authorized services.

Where Lansing Promise receives personally identifiable information from an educational agency or institution that is subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA"), Lansing Promise will handle such information in accordance with applicable law and the terms governing the disclosure and use of that information.

Depending on the circumstances, information may be provided to Lansing Promise with the consent of a parent or eligible student, pursuant to an applicable FERPA exception, or under another lawful basis.

Lansing Promise will use student information only for authorized purposes and will not knowingly use or redisclose education-record information in a manner inconsistent with applicable law or the terms under which the information was provided.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to create rights under FERPA beyond those provided by applicable law.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Unless otherwise indicated, the Lansing Promise website and its content—including text, logos, graphics, photographs, videos, documents, designs, trademarks, service marks, and other materials—are owned by or licensed to Lansing Promise and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

When material changes are made, Lansing Promise may provide notice through the website or other reasonable means. The updated Terms will become effective when posted or on the effective date identified in the updated Terms.

Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

17. TERMINATION OR SUSPENSION

Lansing Promise may suspend or terminate access to portions of the Services when reasonably necessary, including for security, maintenance, operational, legal, or compliance reasons.
